An Italian pasta house that opened in downtown Traverse City in 2020, we serve an approachable menu that features simple house-made pastas like spaghetti and marinara alongside creative specialties that highlight lots of seasonal, local ingredients. We keep it casual, like the music a little on the loud side, and love to have fun while we have the pleasure of serving our guests.

Italian restaurants, sub shops, calzone counters and Italian delis sit next to the pizzerias on this site because most of them bake pizza too, often from the same dough. Full-service Italian restaurants take reservations for dinner, add a tip line for table service (15-20% is customary) and usually run a cheaper lunch menu on weekdays. Sub and sandwich shops are counter-order and quick, with sizes by the inch or in half and whole lengths. Calzones and strombolis are priced like a medium pizza and are large enough to share. Italian delis and bakeries sell by weight and by the piece, and many close mid-afternoon.
The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 amβ9 pm. It is closed on Monday, Sunday. My husband and I are from NKY in MI for our honeymoon and decided to make a day stop in Traverse City. Our hotel recommended this place and Iβm so glad we tried it! Ryan was our bartender/waiter and he was the best, he gave us great local activity recommendations, our drinks were delicious, and he was super attentive despite being quite busy. Drinks wise, I got the Orchard Soda, which was strong per how I was feeling after, but not at all by taste, it was so sweet and light; my husband got the shandy with house lemonade and the draft beer and he says it was the best shandy he has ever had (saying a lot for being from Cincinnati). As for food, we got the garlic bread to start, it was so good I didnβt remember to get a photo until we were done. I got the carbonara with mushrooms and it was lemon-y and creamy and SO tasty, and my husband got the marinara with crispy chicken, he says it is good, classic, Italian flavors, and the chicken was breaded perfectly. We plan to start making a trip to Traverse City part of our yearly travels and do want to stop back at The Flying Noodle again.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! My partner and I came here for my birthday dinner, and we absolutely loved it! Clearly this is a restaurant loved by locals & return visitors and I can see why. From the great service to the fresh pasta, everything was fantastic. We had the Bolognese, Carbonara, Garlic Dots, and Cheesy Garlic Bread. The crispy chicken is also a wonderful addition to the carbonara. We WILL be back!!

I love the flying noodle! Iβve been coming here for many years and itβs hands down the best pasta in town. Prices are considerably affordable compared to other restaurants in town. The quality of the pasta is 10/10! All of their dishes are unique. You can tell their sauces and noodles are homemade and crafted with care. I came here recently to try the scallop pasta and it was amazing! As our server/bartender described it, it was a very bright and colorful dish. The scallops werenβt gigantic, as to be expected, so I would definitely recommend adding the shrimp to your dish too! I loved their Fall menu, but you have to come try their new Summer menu which includes tiramisu! I canβt wait to come back and try more delicious pasta soon!

This was a happy finding. This is one of the best meals we've had on our road trip. Extremely flavorful, I had the shrimp scampi that was to die for. My husband had the braised beef pasta again ridiculously good. I highly recommend! Our server outside was amazing. And it is a reasonable amount of money for an excellent meal.

TLDR: Amazing food, Great Atmosphere, Modest prices for the quality of food, Welcoming and great service. I am visiting my In-Laws who both happen to be talented Chefs who run Bergstrom's Burgers here in Traverse City. We were walking downtown and noticed the Flying Noodle just down from "The Pub" in town and Italian food is a favorite of mine so we decided to come here and made a reservation for the following day. To start, our hostess, Bella, was lovely and talkative and we were early to our reservation and we sat exactly on time. Our server was April who was professional yet inviting and fun with great service. The owner, Chef Dallas, knew Bergstrom's burgers from an employee at the restaurant who Dallas said raves about Tim Bergstrom's restaurant. As fellow Chefs they shared a bond and talked a bit and also suggested some dishes to try. We started with a appetizer of Calamari and Cheesy Bread. The Calamari tasted fresh and the meat was tender. Usually calamari from restaurants is understandably frozen for a long period of time for delivery and is sometimes overcooked and comes out hard and chewy. I didn't ask if the Calamari was fresh never frozen but it tasted great and the s
